Report from our recent tour to Galapagos: The Enchanted Isles

Posted On: 14th Aug 2011

In May 2011 Peter Smart, wildlife photographer and Wild Arena’s overseas tour leader, accompanied a group for our return to Ecuador in South America and to sail around Galapagos: The Enchanted Isles.

As always, the tour provided a huge variety of exciting photographic opportunities with the amazing wildlife of the islands including some of wonderful close-up experiences with the Land Iguanas, Galapagos Sealions and Giant Tortoises. The huge seabird colonies never fail to disappoint with the Frigatebirds puffing out their red chests, the three species of Boobies with their youngsters of varying ages and an unforgettable evening with a wide range of birds circling our boat against the backdrop of the setting sun. Early one morning we were treated to 50 Common Porpoises leaping out of the water around our boat. During our snorkelling expeditions we had the opportunity to swim with turtles, sharks, penguins, cormorants and many colourful marine creatures. Coupled with excursions on the Ecuadorean mainland to the natural beauty of the Cloud Forest and the cultural sights of Quito, our tour to Galapagos: The Enchanted Isles once again proved to be a very special experience.

Full details of our return to the islands in November 2012 are now available in the Overseas Tour section of the web site along with reports and galleries from past trips
