Description

The Wild Arena Waterfall and Landscape session has been carefully arranged to not only give some beautiful picture opportunities, but also the chance to learn new photographic skills. Waterfalls are a favourite subject for many photographers but capturing them to best effect involves a variety of different camera techniques. Our Venue atIngletonFallsinNorth Yorkshireis a perfect location for photographing not only a number of different waterfall features but also the picturesque River Twiss valley.

During our full day session we will walk about 1.5 miles up the trail to the spectacular falls at Thornton Force. After a group briefing on the best techniques to use, guests can then take time to find their own angles and compositions in this beautiful location. After a lunch stop we will slowly walk back down the valley trail looking atPeccaFalls, Pecca Glen,ManorBridgeand Swilla Glen. These lovely locations will offer a wide variety of opportunities and the guides will be on hand to ensure everyone gets the sort of images they are looking for.

The day is fully inclusive of admission to the trail and the guides will take time to talk through the various techniques and camera settings to get the best results. This advice will include an extended briefing on motion blur and movement in water, use of tripods and neutral density filters and composition ideas for landscapes. We are happy to discuss the best settings on your camera and can answers questions on all aspects of nature photography.

This event can be booked for free as part of the Wild Arena annual membership scheme offering tremendous value for money and ongoing savings.

  • Fitness

Guests will need a reasonable level of fitness as the session will involve walking at least 1.5 miles along the waterfall trail. This is a maintained pathway along and up the valley which is steep in places and crosses the river on a number of occasions using small foot bridges. The walk to the first set of falls is about 15-20 minutes and the whole trail can be walked in 3 – 4 hours (although we do not usually attempt this as part of our event). Our session usually covers around half of the trail with a total walk of around 3 miles.

  • Photography Level

This event is suitable for most levels of photographic experience. The best waterfall shots will be achieved using tripod mounted cameras with a manual exposure option. The guides will ensure everyone get the best possible pictures and will advice of the correct settings to achieve motion blur and other useful techniques.

  • Disability Access

This event is not suitable for any guest with walking disabilities as it inherently involves a 1.5 mile ascent up the waterfall trail. Please contact us for specific advice or information.
