Mines are fascinating places to visit but sadly are normally either compromised by restricted access or busy with other visitors. Our  ‘Moorland Mine photography master class’ will take place out of season with exclusive, VIP access to 2 fabulous mines for an extended photo session. A very knowledgeable and helpful guide, with a wealth of interesting stories and fascinating facts, will also accompany us ensuring we enjoy this experience in complete safety.

This Master Class session will be photographically, technically challenging with very little light underground, but the Wild Arena guide will be on hand to talk through the techniques to photograph in this situation. We will cover; the necessity for tripods focusing in low light conditions, long exposures, light painting with torches and the use of flash.

Everyone will be issued a helmet and head torch and the team will also have supplementary lighting for taking pictures. There will also be some opportunity to photograph the interesting views and the machinery disappearing into the mine entrances outside.

This is a wonderful, alternative day of photography, which we hope will be both interesting, fun and challenging. The supporting mine guide and Wild Arena tutor will be with the group for the whole session ensuring we are kept safe and making the most of the picture opportunities.

09.00: Arrival at the mine visitor centre.

09.15: Welcome Tea/coffee and a full briefing by your guides for the day.

09.45: The group will be driven to up to the main mine entrance for our first underground session.

12.30: Lunch break back at the visitor building (please bring a packed lunch).

13.30: We will visit a second mine with alternative options for images.

14.15: We will conclude with a trip up to the quarry top (weather permitting).

15.00: Summary & depart.

PLEASE NOTE: Our itineraries are listed as a guide and we may need to alter them depending on unforeseen circumstances, weather conditions or the availability of the subjects. Start and finish times are fixed to enable transport planning.
