|LOCATION||Park Farm, Knowsley Safari Park, Merseyside|
|TIME||09:00 to 12:00|
Our introductory ‘Macro Sessions’ are held at our head office and studio training center at Park Farm, Knowsley Safari Park. This great location has a fully equipped training room and macro studio and also the facility of our very own on-site collection of great animal subjects. By holding the sessions here we have considerably greater flexibility with equipment and can access a wider range of animals that would not be able to travel.
The subjects for the studio are drawn from our own, ‘little guys’ team. Species that may be included in a Macro Workshop include:
New Caledonian Crested Gecko
Borneo Eared Frog
Golden Tree Frog
Peacock Tree Frog
Whites Tree Frog
White Lipped Tree Frog
Marbled Tree Frog
Rough Frilled Frog
Amazon Milk Frog
Argentinian Ornate Horned Frog
Praying Mantis (various species)
Giant Jungle Nymph
The session will begin with a welcome tea/coffee and the Wild Arena tutor will go through an introduction presentation on macro which includes: choice & use of macro lenses, keeping things in focus & the creative use of depth-of-field, managing movement in the images with shutter speeds and the correct use of other related accessories. During this time there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and relate these learning points to your individual camera.
We will then move to the studio and have a session where guests will have their own chance to capture images of a range of exciting subjects. The tutor will be on hand throughout the session to help set cameras up with the various complex lighting solutions we have to offer. This is also a great chance to learn about this type of lighting and we are once again happy to answer any questions you may have.
09.00: Arrival at the main Safari Park Entrance where you will be met by your tutor and transferred to the Wild Arena center at Park Farm.
09.15: We usually start the session by talking through what our guests hope to achieve over tea/coffee and running through an introductory presentation on the basic techniques for macro covering; choice & use of macro lenses, keeping things in focus & the creative use of depth-of-field, managing movement in the images with shutter speeds and the correct use of other related accessories.
10.30: Macro photography session in the studio.
12.00 Summary & Close.
Guests will have the remainder of the day to spend at leisure in the Safari Park, if it is open. (It is possible that during the winter season, the park may not be open to the public, so non escorted access outside of the event timings will not be possible).
PLEASE NOTE: Our itineraries are listed as a guide and we may need to alter them depending on unforeseen circumstances, weather conditions or the availability of the subjects. Start and finish times are fixed to enable transport planning.
