What You Can Expect During Your Stay

You’ll stay at Forsinard Lodge, your base in the heart of the Highlands. Warm, welcoming and peaceful, it offers the ideal environment to step away from everyday distractions and focus entirely on your photography.

Each guest enjoys a comfortable modernised double room with en-suite, workspace and drinks facilities. The lodge also features a relaxed conservatory lounge, perfect for evening discussions, reviews and shared inspiration.

Built in 1870 by the Duke of Sutherland as a sporting retreat, the lodge now sits on the edge of the Flow Country, surrounded by vast open landscapes and protected nature reserves.

Our immersive retreats are designed to give you the time, space and structure needed to make meaningful progress in your photography. This week focuses entirely on mastering monochrome, with daily guided learning, practical shooting and reflective reviews to help you build both confidence and creative clarity.

Creative

At the heart of every immersive workshop is the opportunity to create meaningful work. Monochrome photography offers extraordinary expressive freedom, and throughout the week you’ll be encouraged to explore your own visual voice.

Whether your interests lean towards documentary realism, fine art, abstract design or personal storytelling, the goal is for each guest to leave with a body of work that feels authentic and fulfilling.

Learning

This workshop follows a carefully designed framework, helping you build a strong and lasting understanding of monochrome photography.

We’ll explore everything from pre-visualisation and composition through to exposure, tone, contrast and post-processing. Structured learning notes and a personal logbook will support your progress, while the small group size allows for individual guidance and meaningful feedback.

The course also introduces key considerations in both digital and analogue monochrome workflows, giving you a broader and more informed creative toolkit.

Discover

This week is as much about discovery as it is about learning.

You’ll explore remote landscapes, coastal communities and quiet Highland locations, while also discovering new ways of seeing the world around you. Many guests find that immersive workshops reveal not only new skills, but new confidence, creative direction and friendships that last long beyond the week.
