Stromness Adventure Photography Walk Workshop

Inspired Experience | Historic Harbour and Story-Rich Streets

This might just be the “daddy” of all our photo walks!

Join us for a glorious day of walking, chatting and photographing in the beautiful harbour town of Stromness, on Orkney’s mainland. It’s a wonderfully rich location, full of character, history and hidden stories around every corner.

And if you’re travelling from the mainland, you can make a real adventure of it—simply hop on the Hamnavoe NorthLink ferry from Scrabster. The sailing times fit perfectly with the photo walk, making for a memorable day from start to finish.

Our Inspired Photo Walks are relaxed, friendly meet-ups designed to combine fresh sea air with creative encouragement.

They’re ideal if you’d like some light guidance, inspiring surroundings and good company—without the intensity of a formal workshop.

Stromness offers a fantastic mix of subjects, from its bustling harbour to narrow streets and historic buildings. There’s plenty to explore—and plenty of places to pause and soak it all in. It’s genuinely one of our favourite locations.

What You Can Expect During Your Session

Our Photo Walks are built around three simple ideas:

Community

It’s refreshing to spend time with people who share your passion. These walks create space for conversation, encouragement and shared inspiration.

Creativity

With such a rich and varied location, you’ll be encouraged to experiment, explore and respond to what catches your eye.

Light Guidance

While not intensive workshops, your guides will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions, offer technical tips and suggest creative approaches.

Creative

These walks are all about creative freedom. You’ll have time and space to try new ideas, explore different subjects and share your thoughts with the group.

Expressing your own way of seeing the world through photography can be a truly rewarding experience.

Learning

One of the joys of photography is that there is always something new to learn. Whether it’s a small technical tip, a fresh perspective or simply inspiration from others, every walk offers new opportunities to grow.

Discover

Stromness is a place that keeps on giving. With every visit, new details and opportunities reveal themselves.

You might discover new ways of seeing, new techniques—or simply a renewed appreciation for the beauty in everyday scenes.
