Beauty in the everyday

We often talk about the joy of discovering beauty in the everyday world around us, so we thought it might be worth expanding on this idea—and hopefully inspiring some of you to give it a go.
Let’s start by thinking about why we take photographs. It sounds like a simple question, but the answer is often more complex than we expect. One reason might be that we simply enjoy the process—the act of getting out, looking for images, and capturing what we see in our own way.
But sometimes it can feel like there just aren’t any subjects worth photographing. By turning our attention closer to home, we can find more opportunities to indulge in our hobby, more often.
This brings a second benefit: practice. There’s a simple idea that the more photographs we take, the better we become. Just picking up the camera regularly keeps our eye and mind sharp—and that can only be a good thing, both for our photography and our overall wellbeing.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, this approach helps us to appreciate the beauty in small, simple things. Life surely feels richer when we train ourselves to notice what is engaging, interesting, and quietly beautiful around us.
For us, this has become a deeply rewarding practice—one that often leads to unexpected photographic moments in the most ordinary of places.
